To All members of the OOU Inc.

We have sent a letter of intent to SEMA per request from SEMA.

Below is a copy of the letter sent.

Once this contract is drawn up and signed, OOU Inc members will be the first called by both SEMA & FEMA within the center part of the USA

We are also setting up emergency animal recovery thru the state of Texas.

If you don’t want your name added to the available trucks list please send me an email.

These loads pay Rather well, but they have certain rules we will have to follow.

The OOU Inc is acting to set this up for our members, The OOU Inc will Not handle any money or charge any member for this service at this time.

We do ask however that all members try & sign up new members at all times

Thank You,

Dan Little

Truckers Please Call

September 11th, 2008 . by Dan

OOU INC asking All Truckers to Call,

LOS ANGELES—A federal judge has denied a trucking association’s bid to block an effort to ban older trucks from entering the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
The decision Tuesday by Judge Christina Snyder allows the clean truck program to move forward, despite objections from the American Trucking Associations.

The industry group asked the judge to halt the program, arguing it placed unfair restrictions on truckers.

Snyder wrote that she denied the request because of the program’s safety and environmental benefits.

The program aims to reduce diesel emissions at the nation’s busiest cargo container complex by as much as 80 percent by replacing nearly 17,000 trucks built before 1989 with newer, cleaner models.

The program is scheduled to begin Oct. 1.
————————————————-
If you actually read the bill, it Say’s NO O/Os, all trucks will be Co trucks.

They are using the clean air act to rid themself of O/Os

The trucking assoc. denied was ATA, we sent the ATA a letter an offered to assist in the bid to halt this program.
We never recieved a reply.

So we are asking everyone to place a phone call to this Judge and let her staff know how you feel about this.

Heres the contact info,

Name: Title: Court Room Location:
Hon. Christina A. Snyder Judge 5 – 2nd Floor Los Angeles – Spring Street

Courtroom Deputy Clerk: Telephone:
Catherine Jeang 213-894-3433

The best way to contact the Judge’s Courtroom Deputy Clerk is by calling 213-894-3433; if the clerk does not answer the phone, be sure to leave a voicemail message. Due to this Court’s heavy caseload, hearings and trials it is engaged in, the Courtroom Deputy Clerk will return all voicemail messages at the earliest possibility.

OOU Trophy Buckle – Membership Contest

July 19th, 2008 . by Dan

The OOU trophy buckle was shipped last friday from skyline silversmiths, Ca.

Today is Saturday and its not here yet, [was shipped by UPS] I called and ran the tracking # and was told they had tried to deliver it twice. They informed me it would be delivered again Monday.

I ran back the security tapes & can find no where that a UPS truck pulled up to the gates.

So I guess we will just have to wait till monday and see if they delv it then ????????

Anyway as soon as it’s delv, We will post color pictures of it for all to see.

We will give it away Labor Day to the member that sign’s up the highest # of new member’s

Good luck to all.

Dan

OOU is NOT Calling for A Strike

July 17th, 2008 . by Dan

The OOU is NOT Calling for a strike, shutdown or anything along those lines at this time.

It was sent to me by several people that I had called for another shutdown, WRONG, we are working hand in hand with several gov officials at this time and a strike would do us more harm than good.

If you see any such post on any website please send the links to me so we can get them removed ASAP.

Thank You,
Dan Little

Northwest Log Truckers Cooperative

June 20th, 2008 . by JM

Hey Dan;

Just wanted to applaud your efforts yesterday at the Albany truckers protest! Good for you guys! You and yours are right on the mark with the fuel taxes, price of fuel and inattention/lack of response from elected officials. From the Administration on down to local politicos there is a blind eye turned our way.

We are a group of independent log truck owner/operators out in Washington state. (Southwest Washington to be specific)  Tomorrow (6/21) we are staging a fuel protest at Exit 72 off of Interstate 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.   This is our second protest since April. The high cost of diesel is killing us all and we are slated for a fuel tax increase July 1 of nine and a half cents a gallon.

It is our goal tomorrow to get some answers from our politicians and a “holiday” from the tax increase. Washington state has one of the highest fuel tax rates in the nation; we pay 28 cents per gallon now with 37 cents peeking over the horizon. Couple that with federal fuel tax and we are out of the park.

The log truckers in the state have not had a raise in hauling compensation since 1986! I know that sounds unbelievable, but true. The surcharges paid by Weyerhaeuser Corporation (the big gun in this area) is at 17% — an insult for sure.  We are at the liberty of the logging contractors who set the hauling rates and have been working with our state legislators for a “rubber stamp” approval of negotiating our own fees. We had a Bill in the hopper this past session that made it out of committee and back to the floor for a vote, but died there because of the “short session” this year (every other year we have a regular session and we’ll be back in 09 to push the Bill through.)

This has gotten lengthy, but I wanted to give you a peek at what we are doing and who we are.  I’ll be giving an interview today on Sirius Radio’s Trucker News with Evan Lockridge at 2 p.m. your time.  Take a listen if you have a chance.

I would love to see ALL OF US TRUCKERS have protests either simultaneously or concurrently until we get some action. Small businesses are being upended for sure.  Take care and pass my congratulation to your members !

Sincerely,

Sherrie Bond
